Abstract

Parliamentary Diplomacy (PD) is a dialogue for concurrence while interfaith harmony is a desired objective of interfaith relations as a conceivable state of affairs. Both cherish ideals of plurality and exclusivity. PD is a meaningful engagement through parliaments. Parliamentarians in this regard can play an important role in promoting and relegating interfaith harmony. Through parliamentary forums and parliamentary friendship groups, they can help achieve interfaith harmony. Perusal through parliamentary diplomacy and people-to-people contacts, can promote cohesion and harmony among nations. People-to-people contacts encompass formal as well as informal diplomatic mechanisms. PD acknowledges religious pluralism. As an avenue for dialogue PD can be tried for promoting interfaith relations. It can help achieving interfaith harmony. However its is not a final word to relegate or promote interfaith harmony.
