Training on Parliamentary Practices and Office Procedures for the new Officers and Interns of Special Initiatives Wing, National Assembly Secretariat, 15th -26th May, 2023

Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services organised a ten day orientation training on “Parliamentary Practices and Office Procedures” for the newly recruited officers and interns of the Special Initiatives Wing at the National Assembly Secretariat from 15th to 26th May, 2023. A total number of thirty two participants attended the training. The purpose of the training was to familiarize the newly recruited officers with relevant information primarily on the working of the parliament and official procedures involved in smooth functioning of the Parliament. The programme commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by programme overview by Director Parliamentary Development Program & Coordination, Mr. Waqas Ahmed Qureshi. Worthy Executive Director PIPS, Mr. Muhammad Anwar, in his welcome remarks, greeted the audience and hoped that this training will prove beneficial in developing their parliamentary knowledge and skill. Director General, PDP, Ms. Samer Awais, apprised the participants of the significance of the orientation course and expected them to fully utilize this opportunity to their advantage for learning best practices adopted at the National Assembly Secretariat. The ten day training comprised sessions on the understanding of the Constitution, Learning of Parliamentary Rules, Procedures, Parliamentary Research, Working of Committees, Budget Cycle and Civil Service rules. Trainers for the workshop included parliamentary expert Mr. Zafarullah Khan, Mr. Muhammad Anwar, Mr. Muhammad Mushtaq, Mr. Iftikhar Ullah Babar as well as former Parliamentarians Malik Uzair Khan and Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq.
