PIPS Welcomes Scholarly Contribution on Senate of Pakistan and Regional Representation

Dr. Dilawar Hussain, Adjunct Faculty Member at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), met with Mr. Asim Khan Goraya, Executive Director, Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS), and presented his recently published book titled Senate of Pakistan and Regional Representation.

The book highlights reforms in the working of the Senate and the introduction of Rules of Procedure of the House, which provided enhanced tools for effectively performing its key functions of representation, legislation and oversight of the Executive. The book has been published by Bloomsbury Academic, USA, and will soon be available for Pakistani readers in paperback at local bookstores.

Mr. Asim Khan Goraya appreciated Dr. Dilawar Hussain’s perseverance and dedication in undertaking qualitative research and documenting the reforms and development of the Senate. He noted that the book would be a valuable addition to the existing literature on the contributions, reforms and effectiveness of Majlis-e-Shoora.

On the occasion, Mr. Asim Khan Goraya also presented a set of PIPS publications and Parliamentary Research Digest to Dr. Dilawar Hussain. Mr. Muhammad Rashid Mafzool Zaka, Director General Research, PIPS, was also present. He appreciated the relevance of the book in documenting the valuable reforms and initiatives taken by the author.
