Pakistan’s Parliament was one of the first that embarked on strategizing and implementing the
development agenda in accordance with the SDGs. The institutionalization process began with the
creation of parliamentary taskforces on SDGs at the federal and provincial levels, as well as the
establishment of the first global SDGs Secretariat. The country’s efforts to adopt and institutionalize
the global agenda have been relentless, as evidenced by the fact that Pakistan not only developed a
national framework on SDGs but also submitted a voluntary national review report on its progress
on SDGs in 2019.
