The Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) organised a knowledge-sharing session on “Tax Law: Filing of Tax Returns on Salary Income” for officers of the Senate Secretariat and National Assembly Secretariat on 8th September 2026. The session was attended by 44 officers from both Parliamentary Secretariats.

Mr. Waqas Ahmad Qureshi, Director, Parliamentary Development Programme (PDP), PIPS, welcomed the participants and the facilitator. In his opening remarks, he emphasised the importance of enhancing practical knowledge of tax laws and procedures, particularly for officials dealing with financial and administrative matters.

Mr. Abbas Ahmed Mir, Joint Secretary, Senate Secretariat, facilitated the session and provided participants with practical insights into the applicable income tax laws, the procedure for filing income tax returns by salaried individuals, and common issues encountered by taxpayers during the filing process.

Mr. Abbas deliberated on key aspects of tax return filing through a practical case study, enabling participants to relate the relevant provisions and procedures to real-life situations. An interactive question-and-answer session provided participants with an opportunity to seek clarification on various tax-related matters and benefit from the facilitator’s professional experience.

At the conclusion of the session, Mr. Asim Khan Goraya, Executive Director, PIPS, joined the facilitator and participants for a group photograph.
