PIPS at Int’ll Parliamentary Union (IPU) webinar on Working of Home Grown Parliamentary Training Institutes

PIPS reiterates its M & E client-satisfaction model at IPU webinar for Parliamentary Training Institutes: Mr Asim Khan Goraya, Executive Director PIPS led three member Team PIPS at Int’ll Parliamentary Union (IPU) webinar on Working of Home Grown Parliamentary Training Institutes on 6th October, 2025 from 5 to 7 pm PST. IPU focal person Ms Nora Babic opened the floor by welcome note. It was followed by 10 mins brief presentations by Prof Nyokabi ED CPST, Kenya, Mr Zlatko Atanasov, Head, Parliamentary Institute of Macedonia and Mr Phuriphat Kruanopparatana, Academic Researcher KPI Thailand on role of Parliamentary Training Institutes. The panelists shared the models and ways of needs assessment followed by them. CPST Kenya was setup by Parliamentary Services Commission of Kenya in Dec., 2008.The purpose and objective of establishing CPST, was to have a one-stop specialized Resource Centre for the training and capacity development of both the members and staff of Parliament of Kenya, County Assemblies and other Legislatures. CPST has held 14 webinars in its 15 years of services and its 2025-26 calendar plans to implement 6 three day workshops for MPs and 8 five days workshops for staffers, and they have held 4 symposia. Macedonia Institute has so far hosted events attended by 400 MPs, 50% of them attended the new members induction program. Having six in House staffers there is no In House expert. KPI Thailand shared it performs research, training, museaum and PLS services for the Parliament since 1998.

Team PIPS comprising ED PIPS, DG Research and DG PDP shared that the Institute is a close partner of KPI.

It is noteworthy that PIPS has put in place a system of Monitoring and Evaluation through Client-satisfaction system where survey forms and interviews record comments on curriculum, training design and faculty feedback from all participants including MPs and staffers attending Institute’s activities. PIPS is accessible to MPs 24/7 for its quality research being an internally recognised research and training facility recognized as global centre of excellence offering academic research mechanisms to individual MPs, committees and caucuses. The webinar concluded with Q and A sesson.
