Orientation Programme for the Short Term Interns Senate of Pakistan – Batch IV October 02-11, 2017

    October 2, 2017. Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) commenced the   eight-day orientation training for the fourth batch of short term interns of the Senate of Pakistan, which will continue till October 11, 2017. The short term interns’ induction in the Senate Secretariat is a cherished dream of the Honourable Chairman Senate of Pakistan,  Mian Raza Rabbani with a view to enhance the Parliaments outreach. The young University Graduates after completing their training at PIPS and developing know how about the basic functions of the Senate of Pakistan, get placed in various departments of the Senate, where they will be serving for the next 6 month. The event was inaugurated Mr. Zafarullah Khan, the Executive Director, PIPs, who in his inaugural speech, highlighted the significance of Parliament as a pivot hinging people and State. He also spoke about the birth of first Constituent Assembly of Pakistan on 11 August 1947, which was 4 days before Pakistan was declared an independent State, in order to decide the modalities related to the governance of new born state. He further shared with the young interns that the concept of parliamentary internship was not new, as the great founder of the nation - Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had also started his career as a Parliamentary intern. The training would continue for eight days and would be facilitated by the faculty members from the Senate Secretariat and PIPS.  The closing ceremony of the program would take place on Wednesday October 11, 2017.
